Paper is an indispensable item in our daily life, but its production process is little known. From trees in the forest to the white paper in our hands, this process involves multiple complex steps and delicate processes.
1. Collection and preliminary processing of logs The production of paper begins in the forest. After the trees are cut down, they are first sent to the factory for cleaning to remove dirt and impurities on the surface. In order to facilitate subsequent processing, the logs are cut into suitable sizes and placed in a rotating drum for debarking. 2. Preparation and cooking of wood chips After debarking, the logs are passed through a metal detector to ensure that they do not contain trace amounts of metal. The logs are then chopped into fine wood chips. These uniform chips are key to producing high-quality paper. The wood chips are then placed in a digester and boiled in an acid solution to dissolve the lignin in them, resulting in high-purity pulp. The pulp after cooking is washed to remove the acid solution and prepare for the next step of bleaching. 3. Bleaching and mixing of pulp In order to obtain white paper, pulp needs to be bleached to improve its whiteness and reduce impurities. The bleached pulp will be mixed with water to form a slurry suitable for papermaking. It is worth noting that it takes about 100 liters of fresh water to produce 1 kg of paper, which reminds us to save paper and protect water resources. 4. Formation and processing of paper The well-proportioned pulp will be evenly placed in the mesh box, and further dehydrated and strengthened through steps such as dehydration, roller squeezing and steam heating. Finally, the paper will be calendered to make its surface smoother and improve the comfort of printing and writing. 5. Application of finished paper After completing the above steps, the finished paper will be rolled together and sent to the printing factory. After printing and layout, these papers will eventually become the books, newspapers and various printed materials we are familiar with. The production of paper is a complex and delicate process involving multiple steps and processes. From the trees in the forest to the white paper in our hands, every step is human respect for natural resources and efficient use. While enjoying the convenience brought by paper, we should also realize the importance of saving paper and jointly protect our environment.
